Poster of the debate

The debates will be held on 9, 16, 23 and 30 June; 4, 14 and 26 July 2021 at the Universitat de València, and also online using the Microsoft Team application. This debate is free of charge, but requires prior registration.

This congress has been organised within the framework of the Jean Moneet Project  E_SRIC_620108-EPP-1-2020-1-ES-EPPJMO-PROJECT SECOTAX and the Globalisation, multilateralism and modulation of taxpayers’ rights and guarantees project of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (DER2017-88731-R).

The digital transformation of the economy is a major challenge for tax systems around the world, with various initiatives, proposals and analyses being made by different international organisations, regional and supranational bodies, states, companies, NGOs, academics and political parties. Given this scenario, it is important to identify what these proposals are, what their advantages and disadvantages are and what their implications are. The debate proposed by the Universitat de València and the ETICCs group, with the launch of this first series of political and academic debates, aims to shed light on the process and contribute to its orderly development, formulating proposals to improve it.

The challenges posed by the digital transformation of the economy are numerous: the emergence of new business models, the inadequacy of national and international tax systems to meet these challenges, the search for national and international alternatives that generate a minimum international consensus, the risks of unilateral responses that generate significant levels of economic distortion and tax burden sharing, technical problems of implementation, the lack of legitimacy and constitutional acceptance of international proposals, the emergence of new areas of international tax fraud and evasion, the compatibility of the use of digital strategies with taxpayers' rights, etc.

The ETICCs group aims to enrich this debate and formulate proposals for solutions and international consensus through political and academic discussions.

The debate will take place on the TEAMS platform. Registration is mandatory but free and you can register for all debates or for a specific session.
