The National University of Distance Education (UNED) has the presence of Aurora Pedro, director of the Chair at the UV, for an interview. The program is based on the tourism crisis due to the global pandemic and the general policies for its recovery.

Last Wednesday, November 18th, the National University of Distance Education (UNED) was attended by Aurora Pedro Bueno, director at the University of Valencia of the Interuniversitarian Chair of New Green Transition, for the radio program of Economy, Business and Tourism. The show will air on Radio 3 (RNE) on Thursday, November 26 (5 a.m.) and will be uploaded to www.canal.uned.es and YouTube Radio UNED.

The program was titled: ‘Tourism and covid-19: the time of tourism policy’. The interview was based on the current situation in the tourism sector, which is undoubtedly one of the most affected by the pandemic. There was talk of the specificity of Tourism Policy within public policies, how to guide tourism policy to promote a recovery of tourism. In addition, they analyzed the national and regional government's response to this situation, addressing the Tourism Sector Boost Plan approved by the Government in June and spain's Sustainable Tourism Strategy 2030, likely to trigger a new tourism plan at the national level.

Regardless of the problems caused by the pandemic, the interview also addressed the main problems of the sector, such as seasonality, unsustainability, etc., introducing suggestions for tourism policy to design a Spanish tourism model in the medium and long term. Aurora also spoke of urban planning and housing policy, taking particular account of the proliferation and socio-economic impact of tourist housing in major Spanish cities over the past decade.

Finally, Aurora made a presentation of the interuniversity project of the Chair of New Green Transition, relating its objectives and its activity with the themes that are hot in the interview, since the Chair at the University of Valencia is focused on the transition to a greener, more sustainable model in the tourism sector.
