The 11th GRATUV International Forum on Greek and Roman Theatre and its Reception in Western Culture will be held in Valencia on 16 and 17 February.
The Grup de Recerca i Acció Teatral de la Universitat de València (GRATUV) announces a scientific interdisciplinary meeting to celebrate the XI International GRATUV Forum 2026, which will focus on the main theme of Greek and Roman theatre and its reception in Western culture.
The primary objective of this event, which will take place on February 16 and 17, 2026, is to share the research results of the members of the research group, mainly focused on Greek and Latin theatre. It also aims to serve as a meeting point for both young researchers beginning their academic careers and recent PhD graduates, allowing them to present their work, reflections, ideas, or scientific viewpoints.
The central theme of the forum is Greek and Roman theatre and its reception, so the proposed papers should address some aspect related to Greek or Latin drama or its tradition in ancient or modern literatures. Therefore, all papers approaching ancient theatre from different perspectives —such as pragmatics, semantics, syntax, discourse analysis, epigraphy, comparative literature, didactics, papyrology, textual criticism, etc.— are welcome.
Those interested in participating in the forum should complete this form, before December 15, 2025. The presentations will last 20 minutes and can be delivered in any language commonly used in the scientific field. The acceptance of proposals will ultimately be decided by the forum’s scientific committee and will be communicated by December 22, 2025. Once proposals are accepted, the corresponding registration fee must be paid into the research group’s bank account (details will be provided in the acceptance email).
Registration:
- Standar certified assistant: 10€
- Presentation + meals: 60€
- Presentation + meals + closing dinner: 90€
The publication of the works resulting from this scientific exchange is planned in the journal Tycho. Revista de Iniciación en la Investigación del teatro clásico grecolatino y su tradición. The acceptance of these works will ultimately be decided by the journal editors, who will subject them to a rigorous peer-review process
