The UIRFIDE research group was founded in 1995 as a research unit integrated by teaching and research staff of the Department of Physical and Sports Education of the Universitat de València. In 2013 it was registered as GIUV2013-140 in the Official Register of Research Groups and began working more actively in this field. It is currently developing activities and projects in collaboration with departments from different universities, federations and other institutions belonging to the public and private sectors around its most important research lines:
- Sports Performance: Research and proposals for action and/or evaluation related to training and the needs of athletes in order to improve their performance, no matter their starting level and their stage of development. Among the most studied sports modalities: basketball, football, judo, swimming or racquet sports.
- Physical Activity and Health: Research and proposals for action and/or evaluation related to training and the improvement of functionality, physical condition and quality of life in those populations in need of adaptation in physical and sports practice. Among other population groups: elder people (with or without chronicity), paediatric patients, people with obesity or functional diversity, etc.
