  • April 29th, 2026

The University of Valencia hosts a FORTHEM seminar on multilingual education with TeLL-ME participation, offering teaching strategies for diverse classrooms.

On May 6, 2026, the seminar “Teaching in Multilingual Classrooms: Challenges and Opportunities?” will take place, a training initiative aimed at future teachers interested in developing pedagogical competences for managing linguistically diverse classrooms.

The activity, organized within the Multilingualism in Schools and Higher Education lab of the FORTHEM alliance, will be held at the Faculty of Teacher Training of the University of Valencia (room PB-05, Av. Tarongers, 4, Valencia). The seminar is conceived as an applied learning space combining the acquisition of didactic tools, case analysis, and reflection on intervention strategies in multilingual educational contexts.

The event will bring together student teachers of languages and other disciplines, as well as experts from across Europe, with the aim of examining how multilingualism shapes classroom dynamics and what pedagogical responses can ensure inclusive and high-quality education. In this regard, the seminar addresses key questions for teaching practice, such as how to support learners with diverse linguistic profiles without compromising curricular objectives.

Two members of the TeLL-ME research group (Teaching and Learning Languages in Multilingual Education), Cinta Gallent Torres and Irene Guzmán Alcón, will participate in this initiative, thereby reinforcing the research dimension and knowledge transfer in the field of language education in multilingual settings.

The seminar is part of the Multilingualism TEAMPACT project, a collaborative initiative addressing the challenges faced by teachers across disciplines and students in linguistically heterogeneous classrooms. It is also framed within the Educational Innovation Projects (PIEE) on artificial intelligence in text production (2025–2026) (ref. 3898146) and on learning situations with an interlinguistic approach (ref. 3901547), promoted by the Vice-Rectorate for Lifelong Learning, Teaching Transformation and Employment of the Universitat de València.

Finally, the activity is supported by the Language Services and the Language Policy Service of the Universitat de València, within the framework of initiatives promoting the use of Valencian, and by the REDIE network (CYTED programme), thus consolidating an institutional ecosystem oriented towards educational innovation and the internationalization of teacher education.
