II Edition of the Sagunto Spring University

Date: 20 may 2021 at 16:30 to 21:00. Thursday.

Place: Centre Cultural Mario Monreal de Sagunt

The University of Valencia, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Society, presents the second edition of the Seasonal University of Sagunto focused on the impact that the pandemic generated by Covid-19 is having on women.

This initiative is the result of the collaboration between the University of Valencia and the Sagunto City Council, as a way of finding in our territory a meeting point for teachers, students, professionals and the general public of Sagunto and its surroundings. "Consequences of the 'Covid-19' pandemic on women and girls" is a conference, free and open to the general public, which can also be followed virtually, with the participation of professors from the University of Valencia with relevance in gender studies and who have addressed how this crisis shows the complexity of inequalities between women and men.

This Seasonal University is framed within the UN Sustainable Development Goals where equality and women's empowerment is one of these goals (SDG 5). In this sense, the programme of this year's edition presents, on the one hand, the gender impact of this crisis focusing on gender-based violence, the difficulties of women victims of gender-based violence in confinement and the paradox of confinement and the need to break the isolation and silence. It also presents the evidence of the systems of oppression and domination that women go through and particularly aggravates the situation of subordination of the most vulnerable women, as well as the need to emphasise cures.
