International Conference "Urban planning vs economic regulation: on land uses to make a better city"

The International Congress "Urban planning vs economic regulation: on land uses to make a better city" will take place at the Faculty of Law of the University of Valencia on November 2 and 3, 2023. The Congress will have specialists from various top-level European Universities in the field of Law , urban planning and housing and will discuss, among others, the different existing instruments to intervene in the regulation of land uses in the built city, the current conflicts that urban planning faces, policies and the right to housing and regulation of the establishment of economic activities.

To this end, the Congress will be structured into three sessions. The first, which will be held on Thursday morning, will deal with the instruments for intervention on the built city, the social and environmental conflicts present in it and the challenges that it poses in this regard. the current regulatory framework. The second, which will be held on Thursday afternoon, will focus on public policies and the Right to housing, as well as the regulation of issues such as the rights of first refusal and withdrawal, fundamental in the definition of current housing policies. . Finally, the third session, which will take place on the morning of Friday the 3rd, will delve into tertiary land uses, with an analysis of the existing conflicts between economic freedoms and urban planning and the different concurrent elements for their regulation of uses in the city.
