The book “Herminio Almendros, un maestro de la II República” (Spanish for Herminio Almendros, a teacher of the Second Republic) will be launched Thursday 7th April at 7 p.m. at the Intersindical Valenciana Assembly Hall. Ferran Zurriaga, author of the book, Carmen Agulló, professor at the Universitat de València, and Alfred Ramos, teacher and writer, will take part in the event.

An introducer of Freinet techniques in Spanish and Cuban schools, Herminio Almendros was also a renovator of children’s literature, a task in which his updating of the José Martí’s work stood out. The author of this book, Ferran Zurriaga, takes us on a journey through Almendro’s life and teaching activity, using unpublished materials, personal letters and testimonies from those closest to him, to discover one of the most influential figures in modern pedagogy.
