El próximo jueves 03/03/2022 a las 15:00h en la Sala Reuniones SS6 (Edificio de Cabecera, Semisótano), María Bisquert (Biogeografía y Ecología de Sistemas Acuáticos) nos hablará sobre el tema: "A new and exotic Cyclocypridae ostracod expanding over Iberian wetlands".

She says:

After the first detection of an unknown ostracod species in the Albufera lake, it has been found in different parts of the Iberian Peninsula. We carried out a bibliographic search to find the name of the species, but we could not find a match. The recently described genus Dentocypria is endemic to Thailand and is one of the eight genera of the family Cyclocypridae. After analyzing the characteristics of the genus and comparing them with those of the species found in the Albufera, it seemed to us that the species could belong to this genus. For the international mention on my PhD, I decided to travel to Thailand and work with Dr. Savatenalinton. She is a world expert in ostracods taxonomy and she described the genus Dentocypria. With her advise I worked on the classification and taxonomy of the new species.
