The L’Albufera Biological Station (EBA) is a scientific infrastructure promoted by the collaboration between three public institutions: theUniversitat de València, the Generalitat Valenciana, and the València City Council. This institutional cooperation enables the integration of scientific capabilities, technical resources, and knowledge of the territory to promote the study and preservation of the L’Albufera Natural Park ecosystems.

Each participating institution contributes to the development of the station within its field of action: the Universitat de València provides academic and scientific leadership, whereas the Generalitat Valenciana and the València City Council make it easier to connect with the natural park management and with the public policies of preservation and improvement of L’Albufera lake. Equally, the three institutions cooperate to carry out dissemination activities aimed at society, including instructive workshops that bring knowledge of the natural environment closer to students and school audience through practical experiences at the park environment.

Generalitat Valenciana

The Generalitat Valenciana, through the L’Albufera Natural Park administration, contributes to the development of the L’Albufera Biological Station making its integration easier in the frame of the natural park management and preservation.

The participation of the Generalitat enables connecting scientific research developed at EBA with the need for monitoring, management, and preservation of the park ecosystems, promoting knowledge transfer between research and environmental management.

València City Council

The València City Council participates in the EBA as the owner of part of the land and infrastructures in the L’Albufera Natural Park and in the frame of its commitment to preserve and improve the L’Albufera lake and its environment, through the service Devesa-Albufera.

Through its participation in the project, the City Council contributes to the development of initiatives of research and environmental monitoring aimed to improve the knowledge of the ecosystem and to support decision-making in terms of the management of the lake and the natural park.

Universitat de València

The Universitat de València, through the Cavanilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology (ICBiBE), holds the scientific leadership of the L’Albufera Biological Station. This institution promotes research projects, scientific coordination of the station’s activities, and the integration of the EBA in national and international research networks.

The university also contributes to the training of students and young researchers, promoting the use of the station as a space for advanced teaching, the development of doctoral theses, and the study of the field in L’Albufera.
