ABSTRACT:
Temperature is a key environmental factor that affects all organisms. In the context of on-going global warming, it is of crucial importance to understand how organisms respond and adapt to temperature increases, especially organisms inhabiting cold-environments, which cover most of the Earth's surface. In this talk I will present results from two on-going projects. In the first project we explored the limits of thermal adaptation in a cold-adapted bacterium by means of laboratory evolution experiments coupled to whole genome sequencing. In the second project we performed transcriptomics at different temperatures to study how a cold-adapted bacterium responds to temperature changes.
