The UV and “Ecovidrio” (Eco glass) foster the recycling culture among students

The UV begins the recycling campaign with the activity “Buscamos genios” (we seek genius), along with Ecovidrio (Eco glass), a non-profit association in charge of processing the recycling of glass packages of the green, igloo-shaped containers. The campaign will be presented by some “Magicians of recycling”, who will show that not only magic tricks will make pieces of glass disappear, but our recycling habits will also help the Earth.

After showing their magic skills, the magicians will inform about how to get rid of our wastes without the need to have experience in the paranormal world.

The magicians will visit the different faculties of the UV from this Monday, 10 March, in the hall of the Aulario Norte of the Campus of Tarongers. On Tuesday 11 March it will be held around the Faculty of Social Sciences. The students from Blasco Ibañez will meet our magicians on 12 March, in the hall of the Faculty of Psychology. The last campus to be visited will be the Campus of Burjassot, which will welcome the magicians on 13 March, in the hall of the building F of the Faculty of Chemistry, and on 14 March in the hall of the Aulario Interfacultativo. Our magicians will begin their visits from 10 a.m. to 15 p.m.

The programme “Buscamos genios” doesn’t end here, since the UV students are able to participate in the contest about online videos of the web of the campaign (http://www.buscamosgenios.com/), where Ecovidrio searches for everyday genius of recycling, rewarding the contestants with a final prize of 3,000 euros. This contest aims to foster and stimulate the student’s creativity to create videos explaining why it is important the recycling of packages of glass.

This collaboration campaign is part of the activities accomplished by the programme of volunteering of the sustainable Campus of the UV, where it is expected to contribute to ecologic sustainability from the viewpoints of training, research, own management, and the relationships of the university with society.

For Clara Martínez, vice-Principal of Sustainability, Campus and Planning, this activity “is created in order to sensitize students in the field of glass recycling, and so we believe that Ecovidrio and its recycling magicians are able to sensitize our students in a different and funny way”.
