The Mostra art públic / universitat pública (exhibition) is an initiative of artistic practice included in the Welcome programme and designed for a public space such as the university campus of Burjassot, in order to get in touch the university community with its environment through the works that six artists have projected specifically for this campus. It is noteworthy that the interventions have been supported by the services and staff of the campus to be able to carry them forward.
With each edition, the dialogue between art and science becomes more evident and demonstrates the symbiosis of this binomial thanks to the collaboration of different services and departments of the Burjassot Campus that have exchanged knowledge and experiences with the authors of the works. This is the case of the work presented by Raquel Díaz de Cerio, who has had the support of the staff of the Natural History Museum of the Universitat where it will be located; of Äther Studio (Audrey Lingstuyl and Michael Urrea), who has been advised by the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Astronomical Observatory and the LPL Image Processing Laboratory, and of Anja Krakowski, who has worked together with the Faculty of Biology. In the rest of the works, the applications derived from the scientific field are also manifested through the combination of architecture and biology in 3D printing, in the case of Salva Serrano; the computer programming of the M.I.D.A.S. collective (Iván Albalate and David Trujillo), and the application of social studies of the University of Manaba, Syria, in the case of Valentina Lapolla.
The six works that make up this exhibition, organized by the Information and Dynamization Service (Sedi), with the collaboration of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Sports, have been selected by a jury composed of Pepa L. Poquet, visual artist and professor of the Department of Painting of the Universitat Politècnica de València; Maite Ibáñez, technician of cultural management of the Universitat de València, and Alba Braza, curator of the Mostra and technician of Culturama.
As a novelty, this year there is a group of twenty collaborating students from the Universitat who will actively participate in the Mostra. Tutorized by Alba Braza, they will receive training pills that will help them connect and better understand artistic installations and be able to transmit to their classmates what they are seeing.
The 22nd edition of the Mostra art public / public university is once again suggested as an offer that covers themes of culture and contemporary art such as gender equality and women's access to scientific careers, the generation of new readings postcolonialists on identity or concern for the environment and sustainability.
