The General, Buster Keaton and Clyde Bruckman, 1926

Presentation: Luis Pérez Ochando

Johnny Gray (Buster Keaton) is an engine driver in a Southern state who has two great loves: a girl (Anabelle Lee) and a locomotive (The General). In 1861, after the outbreak of the American Civil War, Johnny tries to enlist in the army. However, the army thinks he would be more useful working at the rear. For this reason, Anabelle thinks he is a coward and rejects him. The engine driver is able to prove his authentic courage when a Northern commando, infiltrated in the Confederate lines, steals “The General” and kidnaps Anabelle. Johnny doesn’t hesitate a second to get into another locomotive and chase the Yankees to get his beloveds back. (FILMAFFINITY)
