The story starts in 1957, when Bryce and July know each other. Both are going to the same school and since the first moment Juli knows that Bryce is the love of her life. But Bryce is not sure about his feelings and avoids her during 6 years, despite of living in front of her house. But after the danger of cutting down a sycamore, which July was very close to, things change between them, to the point that she starts to abhor him, and he starts to fall in love with her
