Freud, the Secret Passion

Presented by Carmen Carceller, psychologist and member of the Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis (ELP) of the Freudian Field, and by Jordi Revert, member of the Cinema Club of the University.

Synopsis:

This is a pseudo-biographic film that describes five years of the life of the Viennese psychologist Freud, between 1885 and 1890. At that time, many of his colleagues refused to treat patients with hysteria, because they thought that they feigned clinical symptoms to draw the attention. But Freud learnt to use the hypnosis in order to find the reasons of his psychosis. In this case, his patient is a young girl who refuses to drink water and suffers from recurring nightmares that torment her. The script was supervised by the French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre.
