Once World War I finished, James Allen is a soldier that comes back home and does not receive celebrations but unemployment. He got involved in an incident from which he is innocent and is condemned to carry out forced labour. In jail, life is extremely hard and sufferings are everyday life there. Eighty years have passed since the release of this film and the imprisonment conditions leave a lot to be desired, as Amnesty International reports
