La Nau Theatre

La Mare Coratge (Mother Courage) by Bertolt Brecht
Directed by Paula Úbeda. Performed by Malatesta Teatre.

The Mother Courage is a cunning peddler who, in order to survive, follows the Swedish army with her cart, taking advantage of the war. She makes a profit, but the price she has to pay is her three children. Brecht made war “the protagonist of the play, the driving force behind all the characters.” “All of them live at the cost of its effects and all of them will be swallowed up by the war.” This is a profound anti-war plea in which Anna Fierling, aka Mother Courage—a mythical figure of the cost of war—ends up alone with her wrecked carriage.

Theater tickets can be booked in advance at la Tenda de la Universitat (UV shop) at La Nau, and at the University campus, or on its website (http://www.latenda.es/entrades). Tickets €2,10
