United States, Great Depression. While Cecilia works as a waitress in New Jersey, her husband loafs about. Her only distraction is the cinema, where she goes time after time to escape the harsh reality and dream about a champagne world, evening wear and elegant parties. One night, the main character of her favourite movie, “The Purple Rose of Cairo”, notices her and goes through the screen to meet her. (FILMAFFINITY)
