Screening with live music of the first great animated feature film in history that has been preserved. In 2026, the 100th anniversary of The Adventures of Prince Achmed will be celebrated, directed by visionary filmmaker Lotte Reiniger, pioneer of silhouette art and a key figure in 20th-century cinema. It was created using the silhouette animation technique invented by Reiniger, consisting of manipulating cardboard cut-outs and thin sheets of lead beneath a camera.
The story is based on elements taken from One Thousand and One Nights, especially The Story of Prince Ahmed and the Fairy Paribanou, which appears in The Blue Fairy Book by Andrew Lang. With the help of Aladdin, the Witch of the Fiery Mountain, and a magical horse, the protagonist fights the African sorcerer to win the hand of Peri Banu
