Gastronomic legacy of González Pomata

 

 

 

 

Food from the land. Gastronomic legacy of González Pomata is an exhibition linked to the documentary archive of the photographic reporter from the journal Información González Pomata (1926-1996). A collection of more than 13,000 graphic documents that collect and show our ethnographic, culinary and cultural knowledge for thirty years.


This collection is kept by the Mediterranean Foundation, in the cultural space La Llum, Centre for Documentation and Educational Innovation of Alicante. The chair of Carmencita of Studies of Gastronomic taste of the University of Alacant has been the entity in charge to carry out the inventory and cataloguing work, as well as transforming it into exhibition language with the aim of bringing the most relevant aspects of the archive to the general public.

 

Through the texts and images that form the exhibition, we can see the transformations that have taken place in our landscape over the last half century; the changes in our way of working and producing in the context of trades and agriculture, gastronomy, local festivals and, in short, in our modus vivendi. 

 

Food from the land. Gastronomic legacy of González Pomata aims to highlight the value of our gastronomic heritage, trying to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the gastronomic heritage of our country and transmit their interest to achive a tasty, healthy and sustainable food. 

 

This exhibition has been awarded with the National Silver Emporia Award for the best ephemeral, transportable and itinerant exhibition.

 

The project is framed in the programming of cultural dissemination that is developed by the López Piñeiro Inter-university Institute.
