It is a criminal drama of the golden period of French Poetic film, in whcih Jean Gabin plays the role of a gangster who escapes from France and hides in the labyrinth citadel of Argelia. He can’t be caught there, so a policeman will do his best to get him out of the citadel and arrest him. A pioneering film noir
