Synopsis: A young daughter of a tailor is sent to the field in the last days of Cultural Revolution. Her name is Xiu Xiu and her obligation will be to learn the life of the working nation and to pay tribute to Chinese authorities. Once in the region she is still further sent, to a small village, to become a cavalry rider. Xiu Xiu eventually will understand that her rights are being trampled. To make matters worse, she will have to prostitute herself to come back home.
