The Valencian Association of Jurists will be presented at the Faculty of Law

The Valencian Association of Jurists will be presented today, 3 October, at the Faculty of Law. The Association seeks to be a forum for meetings, study and reflection for professors, students and professionals linked to the world of law in the Valencian territory.

This initiative concerns the fate of Valencian civil law and the scope of the legislative power in civil law that the Valencian Community has since the 2006 Statute of Autonomy. It also deals with the legal side of current issues such as the failed statutory reform, the under-financing of the Valencian Community or the distortions that state regulations cause on matters within the competence of the regions (which serve as an example of the debate generated, with direct participation of our Faculty, regarding the economic cutbacks in the provision of care to people with disabilities).

This is an occasion for, from a multidisciplinary perspective, opening an attractive path of collaboration between all parties showing concern about these issues. The Valencian Association of Jurists, which is open to the Valencian society, aims to be a channel to reflect on these issues, always addressed from a legal perspective, in order to promote social development of Valencian people.

The presentation will take place on Thursday, 3 October, at 12 noon in the Saló de Graus at the Faculty of Law, University of Valencia. The event will be attended by the Faculty’s dean, Mª Elena Olmos Ortega, and by the Founding Board of the Association. At the end there will be a closing wine reception.
