The Degree in Modern Languages and Literatures provides students with knowledge of two languages and their respective literatures. In a society such as the European one, more and more integrated and interactive, students will learn how to answer the communicative needs generated by multicultural and plurilingual contexts. Furthermore, they will acquire the technical skills necessary to allow them to be recognized as language professionals in fields such as translation.
 

The degree allows the student to improve their knowledge of two languages at differing levels. Studying one of the languages requires a larger commitment and when the student has finished, they obtain a major (or primary academic pathway). With regard to the other language, a supplementary teaching or minor programme is offered (secondary academic pathway).

It is understood that language B is the student’s first option and constitutes the major (Italian, French or German). Language C is the second language that is chosen, and the studies of which will provide the student with a minor (Italian, French, German, Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese, English, Spanish or Catalan). Aside from the aforementioned, the last two languages are considered as “A” Languages, and they constitute the aim of study of the compulsory subjects.

The final project will be based on language B (the one the student has taken the major in), or on literature written in that language.
