- A doctoral thesis might be presented in Universitat de València as a compendium of publications on the following terms:
- The thesis may only include original scientific articles (minimum of three) published or accepted during the doctoral studies on indexed international magazines such as JCR (WoS) or SJR (Scopus) in Social Sciences. If the fulfillment of the previous requirement is impossible, the Doctoral Programme Academic Committee will determine the impact factor of the publications.
- The student must be the first signature in the papers provided, unless the thesis area of knowledge uses a specific convention on signature order.
- Thesis must include the following parts:
- Introduction section of at least 5000 words with a general idea and a justification of the thematic unit of the papers presented. This section must describe the theoretical frame of the thesis, methodology, goals and results of the publications.
- Published or accepted papers section including the articles published or accepted. It must include the integral published or accepted version of each contribution, including name and affiliation of each co-author as well as the complete reference of the magazine in which it has been published or accepted. In the latter case, students must provide a justification document of acceptance and the complete reference of the magazine it was sent to.
- One or more sections to discuss the results obtained and general conclusions.
If the thesis includes non-published results, they will be integrated into the introduction section or the conclusion section and not as part of the papers provided.
- Additional requirements that may be stablished by the Doctoral School and the Doctoral Programme Academic Committee.
- For the submission application, not only the mentioned documents but also the following documents must be provided:
- A letter of the thesis principals about the impact factor or categorisation of the magazine publishing the papers provided on the doctoral thesis.
- In case that one or more of the papers provided have co-authors, a report of the thesis principals regarding the exact participation of the student in those papers must be provided. Principals must claim that the papers provided have not and will not be provided in any way for another thesis presentation.
