The current Doctoral Programme in Neuroscience of the Universitat de València (3142) results from the adaptation to the EEES of the Doctoral Programme in Neuroscience of the Universitat de València, catalogued as Programme with Mention towards Excellence (MEE2011-0485, according to the Resolution 16518 of the 6th October 2011 of the General Secretary of Universities).

The former programme was the result of the fusion of two previous programmes with Mention of Quality - a interdepartmental one, denominated Basic and Applied Neurosciences and a interuniversity programme on neurosciences of the University of Murcia and the Universitat de València. The Doctoral Programme of Basic and Applied Neurosciences started in 2001. It has been awarded with the Mention of Quality of the Ministry of Education - steadily since 2003 (MCD 2003-00158), having obtained the Mention of Quality in the first call. The interuniversity programme of Neurosciences of the University of Murcia and the Universitat de València obtained the Mention of Quality for the first time in the call of 2003 (MCD2003-00120) - the Universitat de València joined this programme in 2005 and they have held this mention since then, despite of being now the only university managing the programme this year.

The current programme has aimed to bring together all active and relevant centres and groups in the field of Neuroscience in the area of Valencia: Universitat de València, CSIC-IBV, CIPF, IISLAFE and INCLIVA. This programme is focused on the collaboration among experts of several fields. As a result, in most teams there are members coming from different areas of knowledge, providing a multidisciplinary approach to this particular line of research.
