Doctoral Programme in Contemporary History

The Doctoral Programme in Contemporary History is linked to the University Master’s Degree in Contemporary History. Is for this reason that having completed the Master’s Degree studies constitutes an important criteria to contemplate for the valuation
of the requests presented. The Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme will valuate and prioritise the requests according to the following criteria:
- Academic training: up to 30 points out of 100 The holding of a University Master’s Degree in Contemporary History will mean 30 out of 100. Holding a Master’s Degree certification or equivalent in the field of the
Contemporary History will involve between 20 and 30 points over 100. Holding a Master’s Degree certification or equivalent in the field of the Contemporary History will involve between 10 and 20 points out of 100. Holding a Master’s Degree certification in other field of Humanities or in
the field of Social sciences will involve until 10 points out of 100
- Academic record and average mark of the Master’s Degree or equivalent: until 30 points out of 100.
-Research experience and scientific publications: until 15 points out of 100.
-Level of English, French and/or German language: until 10 points out of 100.
-Academic stays abroad: until 5 points out of 100.
- Degree of motivation, considered in the report to be presented by each candidate: until 5 points out of 100.
-Other merits (professional experience, grants, aids and awards received): until 5 points out of 100.
 

In light of the documentation presented, the academic committee of the programme will determine, where appropriate, if it is necessary to fulfil additional requirements including the completion of the specific tests.
in the event of foreign students whose native language is not Spanish, the accreditation of some knowledge of spoken and written Spanish compared to the intermediate level DELLE of the Cervantes Institute.
The admission criteria will be the same for those who apply for part-time doctoral studies.
Admitted students may change the modality of the doctoral studies-from part-time to full-time and vice versa-,but students cannot change their modality before having studied a whole academic year under the modality initially chosen.
Those students who want to make this change must direct a request to the General Coordinator of the Academic Committee. The request must explain the reasons or causes for the change. The Academic Committee shall have jurisdiction to accept or deny it. Where the first case takes place, the Academic Committee will inform
to the corresponding University to take all appropriate measures to carry out administratively the change of modality.
