MANUEL ARDIT LUCAS
The Faculty of Geography and History regrets to inform you the decease of our colleague. Considering and remembering his extraordinary career as professor and researcher, we have published the laudatio that on the occasion of his retirement the Professor Telesforo Hernández read and that will be published on the last issue of the journal Saitabi.
On Sunday December 8 roused us the sad news of the death of our colleague Manuel Ardit Lucas. Just a year and a half after his retirement, unrelenting disease has deprived us of his friendship and his teaching fertile. For decades his career has enriched this department. The rural history and the Valencian town, manor, of Moorish minority, are, among many others, some of the fields where research and reflections Manuel Ardit were decisive to the point of promoting a true transformation of our way to understand the Valencian past.
But his commitment to history is also reflected in an exemplary teaching task, which included the recognition of numerous promotions of students, who, one after another, have demonstrated their genuine admiration. His loss leaves us without an exceptional professor and historian, and, above all, without a friend.
Rest in peace.
