ponència TuinLEC d'Eduardo Vidal-Abarca,

Within ERI-Reading III Sessions hosted on September 2, the TuinLECweb smart tutor was presented. A system that has been already tested in Porçons Secondary School and CEIP San José de Calasanz in Aielo de Marferit. The second talk involves the participation of few professors that have been working with this technological education system. Both teachers and students are quite satisfied with the incorporation of TuinLECweb in their classrooms during the test time of this pilot programme.

2 September 2014 was held the ERI Reading III Sessions  under the name ‘Reading, Education and Technology’.

Eduardo Vidal-Abarca, member of ERI-Reading, presented TuinLECweb, the smart web tutor to teach reading skills for primary and secondary courses children in a playful environment. Professor Iolanda Torró from Porçons Secondary School (Aielo de Malferit), Ramón Garcia and Ximo Sanchis from CEIP San José de Calasanz (Aielo de Malferit), shared their practical experiences when including the TuinLECweb in their classes.

The programe consists of 8 lessons in which students can read several texts and answer the questions. TuinLEC includes a virtual teacher and student that interact with the student giving them explanations, help and feedback along the entire process.

This technology-based system has been successfully approved in two education centres during 2011.

TuinLEC has been financing by the Spanish Ministry of Science (EDU2008-03072, EDU2011-27091). Currently, in ERI-Reading we are working on a number of improvements.
