Tindrà preferència el professorat que haja realitzat el curs “English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI): Metodologies actives aplicades a la docència en anglès” impartit des del SFPIE.

Training objectives
  1. To provide EMI lecturers with key linguistic and pedagogical tools for classroom management.
  2. To gain knowledge of a range of practical skills for delivering instruction in English.
Contents

- Course introduction. EMI overview. Contextual, linguistic, motivational and methodological aspects.

- Teaching discourse (I). Communicative strategies. Planning and organising a lecture. Designing course materials.

- Teaching discourse (II). Lecture signposting and delivery. Functional language for lectures.

- EMI classroom dynamics. The language of classroom management: organising and monitoring practical sessions and group work, seminars, tutorials, and supervision. Providing feedback and evaluation.

Competencies to be developed

- To use communicative strategies to plan and organize the contents of lectures in English

- To effectively use functional language in English for lecture signposting and delivery

- To use classroom management techniques in English for different lecture types: practical sessions, group work, seminars and tutorials

- To provide constructive feedback and evaluation in English
