Specialised activities in professional opportunities are the focus of the Geography and History Employment Forum

  • February 25th, 2022

More than 40 speakers; 12 companies and entities; and a dozen activities including round tables, conferences and specialised seminars aimed at students of 13 degrees, is the summary in figures of the next Employment and Entrepreneurship Forum of the Universitat de València, to be held at the Faculty of Geography and History on 24th February. Registration is open on the Forum website.

Associations, professional associations, public bodies… a total of 12 stands will be open to the public, from 12 to 14 p.m. and will be set up outside the centre, between the Joan Reglà Library of Humanities and the Faculty cafeteria. This will be the timetable for visiting the organisations and companies with which candidates will be able to established a direct interaction and find out about the job opportunities they offer, as well as making university talent available to them.

On this point, UVjob recommends that job seekers review their CV, prepare a brief presentation of themselves and seek information about companies, especially those that may be of interest to them professionally.

This is just one part of the Faculty’s job fair, which will last throughout the day, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will recover the following day, Friday 25th, one of the specific round tables.

It will start early in the morning with the institutional presentation of the Forum, followed by the inaugural conference given by María José Serrano and Alejandro Peña, from the company El Obrador, entitled “From the atom to the byte. Managing cultural heritage”, which will be presented by the principal of Geography and History, Josep Montesinos.

Debates, conferences and seminars for 13 degrees
The programme of this Forum, in which 44 speakers (academics, business people, historians, art historians, archaeologists, researchers…) will participate, has been designed to respond to the demand for specialised professional opportunities in each of the degrees offered by the centre: eight Master’s degree, three degrees and two doctorate programmes.

To give rise to all the academic offerings, several spaces have been set up within the Faculty of Geography and History, and the Faculty of Philosophy and Education Sciences.

The first proposal (9:30 a.m.) will focus on management and research as career opportunities for the practice of Archaeology. Then (10:45 a.m.), the university services linked to improving employability of students will meet at a round table to inform young people of the offer they can find inside and outside the UV.

The specialised meetings will continue at midday (12 p.m.) with a session for students of the Master's Degree in Environmental and Territorial Management Techniques, which will provide the most effective techniques and strategies for employability. Afterwards (1:30 p.m.) it will be the turn of the Master’s Degree in Development Aid, which is considered a gateway to both national and international market niches.

In the afternoon (4 p.m.), the academic activity will begin with a seminar on the future of research in History of Art, aimed at students of the master’s, degrees and doctoral programmes in the field; and, almost simultaneously (4:30 p.m) two debates will take place on research careers in History. The day will close with an expert panel in Information and Documentation (5 p.m.)

The Forum programme will stretch on until Friday 25th with a round table (10 a.m.) on labour perspectives in museums, universities and research centres. This activity will free of charge and doesn’t require registration.

The Employment Entrepreneurship Forum of the Universitat de València are organised by the Vice-principal for Employment and Training Programmes, through UVjobs, in collaboration with the faculties and centres, and their main objective is the improvement of employability and labour integration of university students.
