SCHIPTO gives an honour to Professor Pedro Gil-Monte for his contributions in the field of work psychology

Professor Pedro R. Gil-Monte, co-director of the Master’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety of the UV has received the honour of the Chilean Society of Work and Organisations Psychology (SCHIPTO) “in recognition of his distinguished career and his important contributions to training and research in the area of work and organisations psychology”.

SCHIPTO has the mission of promoting scientific, academic and professional bonds between psychologists interested in encourage training, research, scientific dissemination, technological transfer and professional development of the work and organisations psychology in Chile.

The distinction was given to Gil-Monte on the occasion of his participation as invited speaker in the inaugural session of the “11th National Congress of Psychology” of the Consorcio de Universidades del Estado de Chile (Consortium of Chilean State Universities), which took place in Santiago de Chile from 19 to 21 October 2016. This event was born under the shelter of the Red de Escuelas y Facultades de Psicología del Consorcio de Universidades Estatales (Psychology Schools and Faculties Network of the Consortium of State Universities), which since 2006 has organised in different universities of this country the renowned “Chilean Congress of Psychology”.

At 11th Congress, notable speakers shared the results of different researches in the area of psychology, whose contents are relevant for both academicians and students from Chile and Latin America. It is considered an annual referent, not just for audiences related to the field of psychology, but also for many professionals and academicians belonging to a wide range of social sciences. 


Professor Pedro R. Gil-Monte is accredited as full professor by ANECA of the Department of Social Psychology of the Universitat de València, and head of the Unit of Psychosocial Research of Organizational Conduct (UNIPSICO). His research activity is focused on Occupational Health Psychology, the improvement of the quality of working life, the evaluation of psychosocial factors in work and the prevention of psychosocial risks of occupational nature.

Currently he is director of the research project Validació transocupacional d’un model sobre el desenvolupament de la síndrome de ‘burnout’: desenvolupament i avaluació d’un programa d’intervenció (“Transocupational validation of a model on the development of ‘burnout’ syndrome: development and evaluation of an intervention programme”), financed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and aimed to analyse the development of the burnout syndrome in teachers of Secondary Education in Valencian Community. He has authored more than 150 publications in scientific magazines, books and chapters.
