The Work Placement subject consist in the development of work placements by a system of regulated stays in a company, organisation or administrative, economic or professional institution of public or private nature, as well as the development of a report in which the student writes about the experience of the work placement.
The work placements have as a fundamental objective to complement the theoretical training of the students and facilitate their integration into the job market. Through the work placements the students will assimilate the institutional and company reality of their environment in the field of their respective future professions with the following purposes, in particular:
a) Comprehensive training, balancing, thus, the theoretical and practical training.
b) Acquisition of work methodology adapted to the reality in which the students should act after their incorporation in the job market.
c) The obtaining of professional experience that facilitate employability and the most appropriate integration in the job market.
d) Development of decision-making, critical thinking and the ability to work in a team.
Some examples of activities proposed to companies or institutions to be carried out by students are:
1. Specialisation in Business Management:
- Management and leadership in enterprises of the tourism sector, including hotels, travel agencies and tour operators
- Tourism Consultancy, counselling to enterprises working in planning, management and development of touristic products.
- Development of business projects focused on touristic sustainability, digitalisation and new technologies applied to tourism.
- Applied investigation to identify tendencies, evaluate emerging markets and propose new competitive strategies for touristic enterprises.
- Design and realisation of marketing and commercialisation strategies of touristic products.
- Identification of opportunities in local and international markets.
2. Specialisation in Tourism Planning:
- Planning and Management of Tourist Destinations.
- Design and implementation of sustainable development strategies for tourist destinations.
- Management of tourist resources at local, regional, national or international level.
- Touristic Consultancy, counselling to public organisms in planning, management and development of tourism products.
- Management of departments or areas related to tourism in public administrations.
- Elaboration of tourism policies aligned with the principles of sustainability, accessibility and cultural diversity.
- Management of Innovation and Sustainability Projects for a tourist destination.
