The course presents the current state of astrophysics in Europe in relation to the main research projects carried out by international collaborations involving Spanish astronomers.
It includes historical approaches to the development of astronomy in our continent, taking advantage of the fact that this year marks the third centenary of the birth of Jorge Juan, astronomer and naval officer who participated in the expedition to measure the length of a degree of meridian arc at the Equator
