The López Piñero Institute for the History of Science and Medicine (joint centre of the UV and the CSIC), with headquarters in the Palau de Cerveró, hosts the round table Fontilles, journal on Leprology: 70 years of scientific dissemination of Leprosy, which will take place next Thursday 20 November, at 19:30, in the conference room of this centre. The round table has been organised by the Fontilles Association and will participate Ramón Trenor, chairperson of Fontilles; Federico V. Pallardó, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (Universitat de València); Rafael Brines, journalist; José Ramón Gómez, Medical Direcor of Leprosy of Fontilles; and Pedro Torres, Laboratory Head and editor of the Journal of Leprology of Fontilles. The Fontilles Association is a non-profit association, declared of public interest and which works for health rights and for the fight against social exclusion suffered by disabled and sick people, with special attention to leprosy patients and other diseases connected with poverty. Among its initiatives we should highlight the projects for development cooperation and health care to the elderly with different degrees of dependency, to chronically ill people and to people who needs post-op care or rehabilitation. This task is developed in Spain, in the Borja Geriatric Centre and the Hospital Ferrís located in La Vall de Laguar (Alacant) and in other countries where there are people who suffer marginalization and rejection due to diseases linked to poverty or disabilities.
