Opening. The laboratory, created for students of the Degree of Dentistry, has 34 workplaces and will become the prelude for working with patients.
Opening, 17 October. The Dental Clinic was born in the 80s and it currently supports graduate and postgraduate studies so the students can carry out prevention, diagnosis and treatment activities related to teeth’s anomalies and illness. This Clinic, which is a part of the “Red de Clínicas de la Universidad” (University’s clinical network) managed by the Luis Alcañiz Foundation, The new laboratory has 34 workplaces (30 for students and 4 for professors and tutors) which include a working desk, complete dental clinic equipment (light, air-lift pumps, dental electric- micro motor, suction, air-water syringe and a rheostat pedal) and, finally, a training mannequin of a patient’s full torso and with possible lateral and front-rear head movement. This specialized material is completed by a multimedia system with screen and audio to allow a direct student-teacher communication as well as visualizing demonstration and self-correction of the students’ projects. Thanks to the new equipment, the student will be able to reinforce and test their skills, essential trait to carry out treatments on patients. Within the context of the VLC/ Campus opened innovation model and around this University Clinic work is being carried out to build a European network for specific innovation with other European universities. It is intended to assess and compare training processes and models in order to introduce improvements in the student’s training process and to collaborate in joint initiatives for research and also students’ and research staff’s mobility.
