What does ECTS mean?
This acronym refers to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System used within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The ECTS system is student-centered and based on transparency of results and learning processes.
A maximum of 6 ECTS credits may be recognised jointly and in the course in which students complete their undergraduate studies, in accordance with
- Regulations governing academic recognition for participation in cultural, sporting, student representation, solidarity and cooperation activities. (ACGUV 178/2023)
What are the ECTS credits?
The workload of the subjects of the curricula adapted to the EHEA correspond to ECTS credits. The workload indicates the time students usually need to complete all learning activities (such as lectures, seminars, projects, practical work, study and examinations) to achieve the expected learning outcomes.
ECTS credits in the SEF
According to Royal Decree 1791/2010, of December 30, 2010, approving the University Student Statute, Article 7, where it is included in section 1.i) as common law for students "to get academic credit for their participation in cultural, sporting, student, solidarity and cooperation activities in the terms established by the regulations".
Making use of the powers conferred upon the resolution of 20 May 2022 by the Office of the Principal of the Universitat de València (DOCV 30-05-2022) approving the delegation of tasks to the vice-principals, the general secretary, the manager and other organs of the UV, including the UVsport.
The SEF gives ECTS Credits for different activities:
- Solidarity and cooperation activities (aids for athletes with disabilities)
- Sports competitions
- University Sport Schools
- Sports volunteering courses
