The taekwondo and volleyball teams of the Universitat de València have finished their participation in the European Games with great results.
The taekwondo team, coached by Karina Dos Santos and Beatriz Bernabéu, got three fifth positions in the Games. The double-elimination system, a novelty in this sport, made the competition very hard and the athletes had to adapt to it, getting close to the medals with three deserved fifth positions.
To these good results it has to be added the six medals in the national championship that took place in April, where it got to the podium to pick up six bronze medals thanks to the great performance of all the teammates, a result that shows their hard work.
For its part, the volleyball team ended in the ninth position in the Games. It had a bad start against Northumbria (United Kingdom) University and the University of Niš (Serbia) for 1-3 points. It was in the third game against the University of Split (Croatia) when the team, coached by Juanjo Susín, got to win 3-0. With these results, the volleyball team went from the 12th to the 9th position of the classification. The athletes did not fail this time: they won Finland and Groningen 3-1 in each game.
Throughout the academic year, the volleyball team has got to win the Autonomous Championship and the bronze medal in the National Championship. With these results, it ends de academic year and it starts the preparation for the next one.
