The Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences of the University of Valencia will host the I International Congress on the Philosophy of Physical Activity, Sport and Play on May 27, 28 and 29. The event is organized by the Spanish Association of Philosophy of Sport (AEFD) and the Research Unit Physical Activity, Education and Society (AFES) of the Department of Physical Education and Sport at the University of Valencia. This pioneering academic meeting will bring together researchers, university lecturers, students and professionals interested in the philosophical reflection on sport, play and human movement.

One of the main aims of the congress is to promote critical thinking applied to contemporary bodily practices, as well as to foster the exchange of knowledge and research lines among specialists from different disciplines and backgrounds.

The program includes two keynote lectures, three round tables and twelve panels with a total of fifty-two oral presentations addressing topics such as sports ethics, the educational and social value of play, body and identity, inclusion, gender perspectives, and the cultural and political implications of contemporary bodily practices. These contributions will foster dialogue between research from philosophy, the humanities, social sciences, education, and sport sciences, reinforcing the interdisciplinary nature of the congress.

The first edition of this international congress strengthens the commitment of the University of Valencia to research, knowledge transfer, and the creation of spaces for reflection open to the academic and professional community in the field of physical activity and sport sciences.
