Soy Cuba el Mamut Siberiano: Entre el olvido y el descubrimiento.
This is the documentary that Vicente Ferraz made for his graduation from the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (International Film and TV School) of San Antonio de los Baños. The material narrates the work developed by the Soviet director Mikhail Kalatosov and the work of a team of two hundred people who spent two years in Cuba shooting a film that was intended as a propaganda tool of the Revolution. However, a week after its premiere in Moscow and Havana, the film Soy Cuba was removed from cinemas, going unnoticed by the public in the West until Francis Coppola and Martin Scorsese rediscovered it in the 90s. This film recovers an intense moment in film history, seen through the eyes of the actors and technicians, who show with their testimonies the intensity of the creative process thirty-seven years later.
