According to Article 36 of the Statutes of the Universitat de València, the Faculty is its highest governing body, in which its members are represented and elected by universal suffrage in accordance with the General Electoral Regulations.

Article 37 of the Statutes establishes the powers of the Faculty Council:

• To elect the Dean or Director.
• To propose the Centre's internal regulations to the Governing Council.
• To submit a motion of no confidence in the Dean or Director, whose approval will entail their removal from office.
• To elect and, where appropriate, revoke the Centre's representatives on the University's bodies.
• To formulate proposals for the preparation of the budget and approve the distribution of the Centre's budget allocation.
• To issue reports on proposed study plans.
• To propose the implementation of new degree programmes.
• Where appropriate, to propose the creation of the Universitat de València's own qualifications requiring a prior university degree.
• To prepare the proposal for the allocation of spaces.
• To create and approve the composition of the academic committees for each degree and of any committees considered necessary to fulfil its functions.
• To submit requests for the staff necessary to fulfil the Centre's functions.
• To approve the academic-year organisation proposals prepared by the relevant academic committees for each degree, which shall be submitted to the Governing Council.
• To approve, for evaluation purposes, the annual activity report to be submitted to the Rector's Office.
• To resolve conflicts that may arise within the Centre.
• To propose the granting of awards and honours.
• Any other functions assigned to it by the Statutes and applicable legislation.
