Functions

The Academic Committee for the Degree (C.A.T.) is the body academically responsible for the degree programme, assuming responsibility for academic and teaching planning, coordination and supervision.

The C.A.T. collaborates in the organisation of teaching and ensures the academic coherence of the degree programme (Article 41 of the Statutes of the Universitat de València). Its functions are:

  1. To approve course guides and prepare the proposal for the organisation of the academic year, taking into account the criteria established by the Governing Council and the proposals of the departments. This proposal must specify the language of instruction.
  2. To coordinate and supervise the teaching provision of the departments involved.
  3. To prepare and disseminate the documentation necessary to provide students with guidance and information on curricular pathways and elective subjects.
  4. To issue a report on the proposed timetables and allocation of spaces.
  5. To prepare an annual report on the teaching activity carried out during the academic year, taking into account the objectives of the degree programmes, to be submitted to the Dean's Office or Centre management and to the members of the Faculty Council.
  6. To propose resolutions on requests for partial recognition of studies. The specific tasks through which the C.A.T. carries out its assigned academic organisation function, once the University has established the competences pursued by the degree programme, can be divided into three types: planning, coordination and supervision.
