After almost a century enjoying the action of antibiotics, as a fundamental tool in the fight against infectious diseases, we are beginning to face a world where these molecules loose their effectiveness. The use of antibiotics, sometimes in an inappropriate way, both to treat infections and for less altruistic activities, such as fattening cattle, forces and accelerates the spread of resistance among microorganisms. Illnesses that could be solved in a week are beginning to be the cause of death for many people. A policy to raise awareness of the population on this issue is necessary to allow the discovery of new families of antibiotics, as well as a decrease in the consumption of those that are already being used. We will also introduce the concept of One Health in the educational community.
