The University of Valencia, among the top 200 higher education centres in the world in 4 subjects

The QS World University Rankings by Subject, a classification of academic reputation and employability, citations of scientific articles and H-index highlighted the University of Valencia (UV) among the top 200 higher education centres in the world in Agriculture and Forest Sciences (in the range 101-150 of the world), Accounting and Finance, Physics and Astronomy, and Chemistry. In addition, the institution is the first Valencian university in 12 of the 18 classified subjects and by areas of knowledge it ranks 190 in the world in Natural Sciences.

On a Spanish scale, the University of Valencia is between the fourth and fifth position in two subjects: Physics and Astronomy, and also in Chemistry. In addition, it appears in the range 4-10 in Agriculture and Forest Sciences; in the 5-6 in Psychology and in the 5-8 in Accounting and Finance. It stands out that in Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, it also ranks 93 in citations per article. By areas of knowledge, the UV is fifth in two: Life Sciences and Medicine, as well as in Natural Sciences, and is first in the Valencian Community in 4 of the 5 analysed: Arts and Humanities, Social and Management Sciences, in addition to the two mentioned.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject is prepared by the consulting firm Quacquarelli Symonds. By subjects, 51 disciplines and 5 areas of knowledge are included, which analyse the academic reputation, the employer, the citations and the H-Index (indicator of professional quality of the research staff by the number of citations received from the published articles). In this ranking 1,452 universities from 86 countries are analysed. Regarding the University of Valencia, in this year’s edition, published today Thursday, it has been classified into 18 subjects.

On a regional scale, the University of Valencia is the first in these 12 specific subjects: Biological Sciences, Accounting and Finance, Law, Economics and Econometrics, Education, Business and Administration Studies, Pharmacy and Pharmacology, Physics and Astronomy, Modern Languages, Medicine, Psychology and Chemistry.

Compared to 2020, the University of Valencia has improved in 17% of the subjects and in 67% it remains the same. The Valencian institution has achieved the highest score in the H index in Business and Management Studies, with 96.9 points.
