The teams of the Universitat de València disputed on 17 November the first round of CADU, the competition in which all the universities of the Valencian university system participate and in which the Universitat de València did great with all its teams.
Unlike other sports in which the CADU competition system is structured on the way of leagues, seven-a-side footbal, padel, rugby and tennis take place in the way of gathering with several games before the different universities.
In the case of women’s seven-a-side football, the team coached by José A. Menchero opened the round against the Valencia Catholic University in the facilities of the Central Park in Torrent. A meeting in which the players showed a great technical quality that allowed them for winning 1-5 the local team. After a break, the team played at 14:00 against the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, a game with many goals that won the Universitat 11-0. Two results that put the team in the first places of the classification and that allow them to face the next rounds with more confidence.
The teams of rugby of the Universitat also competed, in this case, in the facilities of the Tramo V of the Turia River, in Valencia. Despite competing from 11:20 until 16:40 in a total of 4 confrontations, both teams demonstrated the great condition they are and closed the round undefeated. The girls of Ana Aigneren won the Valencia Catholic University 30-5 and from that moment they did not conceded one goal; against the Miguel Hernández University they won 0-40; the University of Alacant lost 0-26 and the Universitat Politècnica lost 0-34. By its part, the team coached by Marcos Arminaña finished its first game against the Valencia Catholic University 36-7; the Miguel Hernández University of Elche finished 0-18; against the University of Alicante they finished 32-7 and closed the round 26-10 against the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia. A great result that gets them closer to regain the title of autonomic champion that both hold.
As an innovation, in this academic year it has been included the disciplines of padel and tennis to the gathering format. The team of padel disputed on last week the first round of the CADU league against the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia due to an advance of the meeting. The team coached by Jorge Bellmont won the first game 2-1 with a display of good gaming and good feeling that makes them eager to face the next round.
By its part, the tennis players of the Universitat went to the Anabel Medina Sports Hall in Torrent to dispute the round that started at 10:00 for the three disciplines. The four athletes (Joel Gadea in men’s single, Andrea Cervera in women’s single and Pedro Lizondo and Sandra Fernández in mixed doubles) faced the University of Alacant in this first confrontation in which they only got to win the men single game, so they have to step forward on next CADU round if they want to have a chance to win the autonomic title.
The next gathering takes place on Wednesday 2 December at the facilities of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche.
