Vincent Denis: "Police, papers and identification in eighteenth-century France".

Presentation of the researches of Professor Vincent Denis on the transformations in the area of identification in France during the 18th century. The conference reviews the changes regarding techniques, procedures, identifier personnel (policemen, judges, soldiers, priests) and identified bodies (defectors, corpses, travelers, criminals, etc.). These changes are located in the most general context of the identification history. Vincent Denis is author together with Ilsen About of one of the first synthesis works of the identification regimes’ history: Historia de la identificación de las personas (Barcelona, Ariel, 2011) (History of people’s identification).
