On 4 May, the Youth Chair attendend this meeting organised by the Fundación Alternativas in collaboration with the Department of Applied Economics of the UV.
This meeting was aimed to analyse the present and the future of school bullying, a global problem that affects 1 of every 3 pupils, acoording to the UNESCO. The webinar is available online on the YouTube channel of the Fundación Alternativas.
The webinar had a round table, moderated by Mauro Mediavilla, professor of the Department of Applied Economics of the University of Valencia and co-author of the study. Gisela Rusteholz, Doctoral student in the Department of Applied Economics of the University of Valencia and co-author of the study; Purificación Llaquet Baldellou, deputy director of the Cooperación Territorial e Innovación Educativa (Territorial and Educational Innovation Cooperation); José Luis Pedreira, doctor and paediatric psychiatrist; and Annika Tuohisaari, Communications Coordinator and Nation Branding of the Finnish Embassy in Spain participated in the webinar.
The experts laid the reality of school bullying on the table, and debated on the impact of bullying in the academic performance of children and teenagers. They questioned the existence of gender differences between the victims and studied the profiles that tend to suffer more of the long-term consequences of school bullying, etc.
