Presentation

The History and Democratic Memory Room arose in 2016 with the aim of providing the Universitat de València with an institutionalised structure that develops, coordinates and makes visible initiatives related to history and democratic memory in and from the academic sphere. It was promoted and is coordinated by lecturers specialising in the history of recent Spain.

Its activities and programming revolve around four objectives:

•    To promote and the active role and reference that academic research should have in initiatives related to democratic memory.

•    To promote the transfer of knowledge and cultural dissemination activities related to these issues.

•    To address the specific problems related to historical research into recent Spain and to demand in particular the adequate conservation and necessary accessibility of the documentary sources and archives needed to carry out such research.

•    Finally, to promote collaboration and coordination with other institutions around these objectives.
