The sender is responsible for complying with the relevant packaging regulations for all shipments of biological material.
The microorganisms belonging to risk group 1 do not fall within the regulation for the transport of infectious substances and therefore only the regulations of the national postal services apply to them for any package.
Microorganisms belonging to risk group 2 and 3** fall within the product category considered as infectious substances and must be transported using packaging that meets United Nations specifications (Packaging instructions P620 and P650)
